Below you will find information, pictures and video from a recent trip to Ethiopia showing the reactions of the people and the work that is currently being done on the project to bring clean water to the region of Tembien, Ethiopia. $2.4 million (USD) is needed to make the water sanitation project a reality. Your donations are greatly appreciated!
Project Objectives:
- Source recovery of suitable water to meet supply needs
- Groundwater: sufficient in this area
- Surface water: fresh streams and runoff in the local mountains
- River water: not the most desirable, but there are rivers that flow year round available
- Treatment of recovered water ensuring a safe and dependable supply to Tembien
- Tembien's population is ~30,000 people
- 300,000 gallons per day is needed (10 gallons per day, per person)
- Laboratory capable or performing all general water chemistry analysis
- Microbiological analysis capable
- 100% photovoltaic (solar) powered generated on site
- Disciplined quality control program
- Distribution of the treated drinking water to the nearby village, with incorporated conservation practices
